The Port Harcourt Area 1 Command, Nigeria Customs Service, has surpassed the monthly revenue target for August 2017 by generating the sum of N2,981,822,836.95.
The command said it surpassed the target with N300,000,000 for the month under review.
According to a statement signed by the command's Public Relations Office, Ngozi Okwara, an Assistant Supritendent of Customs, this is despite the lingering lull in port operations.
The statement noted that the Area Controller, Comptroller K. Isiyaku, since his arrival to the command has been consistent toward surpassing its's monthly target.
Okwara added that apart from the revenue drive, the Comptroller had also embarked on capacity development programme for officers, stating that the Area One Command has undergone a new facelift as the structures have been refurbished.
"Despite the challenges of low importation through the port, the area command whose statutory function includes collection of revenue (through Import/Excise Duties and other Taxes/Levies) and accounting for same has been able to surpass its monthly target.", he said.
